UDUAGHAN’s APPOINTEE HARRASSES WIFE OVER DIVORCE PLANS

Barely two weeks after we reported a case of an Ogun State Politician beating his wife black and blue, there is yet another case and this time in Delta State.
We have it on good authority that Mr. Hope Abijor said to be an influential politician and ally of Governor Emmanual Uduaghan has taken to underhand tactics to stop his wife from carrying out her threat of divorce.
Mr. Abijor, an appointee of the Governor as Member, Delta State Waste Disposal Board allegedly stormed the house of his wife, Omote Makelem with armed policemen from the State CID to effect her arrest.
The Politician reportedly took the action with the assistance of the officers of the law because the lady had sought the order of the court to dissolve her marriage.
We are told that the lady had not only wanted divorce but asked to be given custody of their five year-old daughter and this is what infuriated him enough to deploy the tactics of harassment.
Sources said the matter is still in court but the lady has been languishing in a police cell in Asaba since last week with the man boasting to anyone who cared to listen that he was going to “deal” with her.
Family sources said that Police have refused to bail her and insisted that they must go and appease Mr. Abijor. This is a clear case of an infringement of her fundamental human rights and a practice that the present Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar has vowed to stamp out.
