Transparency International To FG ” When Will You Prosecute Babachir Lawal”

Transparency International has asked the Federal Government when it intends to commence the prosecution of a former Secretary to the Government of Federation, David Babachir Lawal, over allegations of corruption that led to his sack.
Lawal was sacked by the Muhammadu Buhari Administration for the alleged inflation of Internal Displaced Persons contracts and receiving kickbacks of N450 million.
TI made the request for the prosecution of the sacked Secretary of the Government of Federation on its Twitter handle.
Lawal was removed after a Senate Panel concluded investigation into inflation of IDPs contracts and was suspended, while the Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was Acting President in April last year.
A panel set up by President Muhammadu Buhari, which had Osinbajo as chairman, also looked into the allegation.
The report of the panel led to the eventual sacking of Lawal.
But till now, the former SGF is yet to be prosecuted, though he was reported to have been sighted some months back at the office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
According to TI Nigeria on its Twitter handle: “Former SGF, Babachir Lawal was indicted by Senate report for inflating IDPs contracts and receiving kickbacks of N450m. He was suspended in April 2017 and sacked in October 2017. When will he be prosecuted?”
