Super falcons don’t have to depend on me alone- Oshoala

The African Women’s Footballer of The Year, Asisat Oshoala, has stated that she is more interested in the success of the Super Falcons at the 2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations ahead of all individual accolades.
The Nigerian striker who netted hat-trick in the 6-0 thrashing of Equatorial Guinea to end her two-game drought and set up a feisty encounter against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the semi-finals of the tournament also stated that she is delighted to have help the team but the team don’t have to depend on her for goals.
“We don’t have to depend on Asisat alone because we have Francisca (Ordega), Desire (Oparanozie), Anam (Imo), Ajibade (Rasheedat) and this is very good for us because the team as a whole is confident.”
She added: “I might be like a plus for the players, but all the strikers in the team are goal scorers, so we have confidence on each other.
“It’s normal as a professional player to want to get goals in some games but what I believe in, with my experience, is that in a game where you miss chances as a striker you just have to keep giving people chances which was the decision I made.
“At some point, I knew I wasn’t going to score  because I really do not struggle to score goals, so I just had to tell myself it’s time to give assists which was what I did. But like I always say, the team’s victory is more important than individuals’ accolades.
