Shocker in Customs: All five Deputy Comptrollers resign

In what has been described as unprecedented, all five deputy Comptrollers-General of Customs (DCGs) yesterday resigned from service.

The affected DCGs, A.J Atte, T.A Musa, I.M Mera, A.C Nwosu and A.A Adewuyi, in a signed letter, said having attained the pinnacle of their careers, it was time to leave. However, in the letter sighted from an online source, DCG Adewuyi was observed not to have signed the joint resignation letter by the time of going to press.

In a letter dated October 29, 2015, stamped and received by the office of the Comptroller-General, the DCGs thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for the opportunity to serve the nation.

www.thelightnews. con recalls that the former Customs comptroller-general, Dikko Inde, voluntarily resigned his appointment when he wrote a letter to President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the time had come for him to bow out for the younger ones to take over.

There has been disquiet and silent anger in the Nigeria Customs Service following the appointment of Col. Hameed Ali (retd) as th Comptroller-General which insiders refer an outsider and a slight on the career officers.
