Real Madrid sacks Benitez, appoints Zidane

“Hello and welcome, I invite you all here today to announce  that we have terminated the contract of Rafa Benitez. I would like to make clear that he is a great professional” With those words, Real Madrid President,  Florentino Perez ended the seven month career of the former Liverpool and Chelsea boss.

That was not all, Perez went on to announce that Real Madrid great and world Cup winner, Zinedine Zidane would be the new Coach of the Club. His words were “He is one of the greatest players of time. Zidane, you are from this moment, the coach of Real Madrid.

An elated Zidance stated “I am going to do everything I can to make the best for this club. It is a very important day for me. What I can tell you is that I will give everything to this club. Ever since I arrived as a player, I knew how great this club was. We have the best fans in the world and the best club in the world. I will do everything to win.

The Club legend, Zidane has been in charge of Real Madrid Castilla since 2014 and spent a year as Carlo Ancelotti’s Assistant before that adventure to the feeder team. This will be Zidane’s first full Managerial Role in a top Club and it is yet to be seen if he would have the temperament to manage a side filled with stars often called Galacticos.

It seems Benitez who was already been complaining that he was not given due respect by the Madrid fans got into trouble with a string of missteps, from being disqualified from the Spanish Cup, Copa Del Rey to being beaten silly by big rivals Barcelona and the 2-2 draw with struggling Valencia was too much for the Board and they did not hesitate to show him the door
