Pro and anti Saraki protesters class at the National Assembly

It took the professionalism of the Nigerian Police to stop a breakdown of law and order at the National Assembly when supporters for Senate President Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki arrived in their numbers to take the shine off a group of protesters who had come to ask for his resignation.

The #occupyNASS protesters who had earlier been branded as paid agents of powerful forces within the All Peoples Congress (APC) by the Media Adviser of Senator Saraki, Mr. Yusuph Olaniyonu in a press statement yesterday arrived first around the Three Arms Zone where the Assembly is located.

They carried placards and were singing derisive songs. It did not take long for the Pro Saraki protestors to join them, and they too were in their numbers and were very vocal, calling for Justice for Saraki and insisting that he is innocent until proven guilty and should not bullied by party aparrachiks or any other persons. The two parties were on opposite sides of road and were heading to the National Assembly.

The two groups clashed when they got to the entrance of the National Assembly and battled for who should get the vantage position at the front of the massive gate. Arguments, pushing amd shoving ensued before the police stepped in to restore order.
