It would be recalled that Prince Eludoyin, whose company owns the popular Ikeja Mall and a very close confidant of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was mentioned as a top contender for the Ooni throne in a Thisday article shortly after the death of Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II.

We gathered that many influential Yoruba leaders who are close to Tinubu had already confirmed their support for Eludoyin and this his stance may in fact throw the race for the crown wide open.

Meanwhile, the remains of the late Ooni of Ife has reportedly arrived the ancient town-and it was accompanied by Prince Aderemi Sijuwade and some top Ife Chiefs. In Ile-Ife, a commendation service is being planned for this morning while a Seven day mourning had been declared.

The service which is expected to be attended by Vice President Prof. Yemi Osibajo and many celebrated Nigerians will be held at the open arena in front of the palace.

Our correspondent in Ile Ife revealed that the gates of the Palace have been ajar since yesterday, which according to tradition, means that the King has passed on.

Also, Towncriers were noticed walking about the town beating their gongs and warning residents that there will be a curfew from 4pm.
