NSE Markt Cap up by N26b

Trading on the floor of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) continued its upward movement on Tuesday when two major indicators, the All-Share Index and market capitalisation, appreciated by 0.26 percent each.

Market capitalisation appreciated by N26.206 billion to close at N9.872 trillion as against N9.845 trillion recorded on Monday, while the All Share Index rose by 78.53 basis points or 0.26 percent to close at 29, 584.00 points as against 29,505.47 points recorded on Monday.

Meanwhile, investors traded in a total of 211.433 million shares, valued at N2.850 billion in 3,808 transactions compared with 611.716 million shares, valued at N5.617 billion in 3,271 transactions recorded on Monday with the financial services sector accounting for a total of 161.917 million shares valued at N1.528 billion in 2,333 transactions as against 585.158 million shares valued at N3.675 billion in 2,136 transactions recorded the previous trading day.

However, investors traded in a total of 105.433 million shares belonging to the banking sub-sector in 2,333 transactions as against 195.849 million shares valued at N2.216 billion in 1,238 transactions.

At the close of trading activities on Monday, 23 companies made it to the gainers’ table as against 26 on Monday, while 17 were on the laggards’ table compared with 19 the previous day.

PZ Cussons Nigeria led the gainers’ table on Tuesday when it appreciated by 112 kobo to close at N25.55 per share, followed by Flour Mills of Nigeria which added 93 kobo to close at N32.93 per share, Stanbic IBTC Bank increased by 76 kobo to close at N27.90 per share, among others.
