Lagos Reps Member Found Dead

Adewale Elijah  Oluwatayo, the Federal House of Representatives Member representing Ifako Ijaiye was this morning found dead in his Abuja home.

The Lawmaket who is a member of the All Progressives Party (APC) was discovered in his bedroom by his workers when he did not show up as usual to prepare for work.

Yakubu Dogara, speaker of the house, mourned the sudden death, saying he was “deeply affected” by the news of the sudden demise of the “hardworking, committed and patriotic lawmaker”.

“The late Hon. Elijah died when his services to the nation was most needed,” he said.

“We mourn our fallen colleague as one who gave his best in service to God and humanity. He was a committed and hardworking member who championed the cause of his people.

“Our hearts goes to his immediate family, the people of Ifako/Ijaiye Federal constituency and Lagos state over this great loss.

“I pray God almighty to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We will surely miss him in the Green Chamber.”

Oluwatayo was Special Adviser on Education in Lagos state between 2009 and 2011, and Chairman, Electricity  Board, between 2004 and 2007.

He reportedly attended the APC caucus meeting the night before and was reportedly healthy.

His death has sent shockwaves around his constituency.Our Correspondent who visited the area when the news broke saw many people in groups of fours and fives discussing the unfortunate incident.
