Jonathan sacks NPA MD, Appoints Ado Bayero as replacement

The gale of sacks or what some have termed the wind of change blowing around the out-going President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s administration has swept away  a new  victim. He is none other than Mallam, Habib Abduallhi, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA),

In his place, the President has approved the appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero, Ado Bayero, a lawyer, is  one of the sons of the Late Emir of Kano. He was tipped to become the new Emir of Kano before the mantle eventually fell on the former CBN Governor, Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi.

The former Managing Director of NPA, Mallam Habib Abdullahi hails from Kano State of Nigeria. He served in different capacities in Kano state as Director of Budget, Managing Director of some Kano State Government Parastatals and also was the first Chairman/Sole Administrator of Kabo Local Government in Kano State. Before joining the services of NPA, he served as the Chief of Staff to the Honourable Speaker, House of Representatives at the National Assembly in Abuja.

He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria in 1978, where he obtained his first degree. He also attended the University of Bath and the University of East Anglia all in the UK. Mallam Habib Abdullahi obtained a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management from Harvard University, USA and is an Edward Mason Fellow of Harvard Institute of International Development.
He served as General Manager Administration and was later deployed to London as Overseas Representative of the Nigerian Ports Authority, a position he held until December 2011 when he was appointed as Acting Executive Director, Finance and Administration. He was later appointed the Managing Director in July 2012. He is happily married with children.
