Chief Olu Falae: recounts his traumatic experience

We have only N2million-Falae Family pleads with abductors

The family of Afenifere chieftain,  former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Presidential aspirant, Chief Olu Falae has pleaded that it can only raise N2million following the demand of his abductors for N100million as ransom.

Interestingly, while they were making this statement, Chief Falae’s abductors, said to be Fulani herdsmen, have reduced the amount demanded from N100million to N90million.

Sources said Falae was taken from his Akure, Ondo State home in circumstances that were very sketchy and some workers at his farm were wounded during the incident. Just two years ago, the Falae went through the traumatic death of Deji, the brilliant son of the politician, and so they are devastated by this new development.

A close family source told reporters that Falae was in his farm in Ilu-Abo, a suburb of Akure, when the suspected Fulani herdsmen stormed the farm and took him to an undisclosed destination.

According to the source, the Fulani herdsmen and the septuagenarian politician had been having a running battle over the destruction of his farm produce by cows being reared by the herdsmen. He said on several occasions, Falae had invited the police to intervene in the matter while some of the herdsmen had been arrested and released on bail. But yesterday, he said the herdsmen, who were heavily armed, stormed the farm, attacked the manager, simply identified as Bruno.

He said the herdsmen forced the farm manager to lead them to where Falae, who is the traditional ruler of the town, was staying. The severely injured farm manager has been taken to hospital, we gathered.
