Group drums support for Ikuforiji’s guber ambition

A socio-political organisation under the aegis of ‘Lagosians for Change’ has thrown its weight behind the governorship ambition of Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji.

The group said Ikuforiji’s political experience and record as the longest serving Speaker in the history of Lagos State places him on a “higher pedestal above other aspirants that have indicated interest in succeeding Governor Babatunde Fashola”.

Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, leader of the group, Olawale Sawyerr said Ikuforiji as a loyal chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) possesses the requisite criteria spelt out by the party for intending governorship aspirants in the state.

“We are supporting Ikuforiji’s governorship ambition because we believe he is the best man to turn around the fortunes of Lagos and consolidate on the gains recorded by the past and present administration.

“He is a thoroughbred administrator, highly charismatic and resourceful politician who is widely accepted by all in all nooks and cranny of Lagos State.

“Some people realise before now that he is nursing a governorship ambition and they did everything within the books to pull him down and ruin him politically.

“But being a forthright man, he has been able to weather the storm successfully without a single dent to his towering image.

“If the APC said the candidate should emerge from Lagos East, he is well qualified. We are not disposed to mixing religion with politics, but if they want a Christian candidate, he is also on track by virtue of his union to a God- fearing deacon.

“Didn’t the Holy Book say ‘Two shall become one?’ We urge Lagosians to rally behind this man and support his quest to take Lagos State to enviable heights which generations unborn will be proud of,” the group said.
