Former Governors Ohakim and Lamido in EFCC net

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday, said it had arrested former Gov. Ikedi Ohakim of Imo State and also questioned immediate past governor of Jigawa State,  Alhaji Sule Lamido.

Mr Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesman for the EFCC, revealed that while former Gov. Sule Lamido of Jigawa was being interrogated over corruption allegation.

“Ohakim was picked up by operatives of the commission at 8 a.m. from his Abuja residence.’’

He said the operatives had gone after the former governor following his failure to honour an invitation by the commission.

“I cannot say precisely the amount involved in the allegation brought against Ohakim but he was picked up this morning from his Abuja residence”, he said.

Uwujaren stated that Lamido was at the commission for interrogation over contracts awarded to companies connected to his family during his tenure as governor of Jigawa.
