Former Borno Governor Ali Modu Sherif hands self to EFCC

Senator Ali Modu Sherif, a former Governor of Borno who has been wanted for alleged corrupt practices has turned self in to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Popularly called SAS, the former Governor accompanied by a few people had arrived the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja at about 6pm and promised to help the agency in its investigations -and as at press time he was still under investigation.

A spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren stated that the former Governor had been accused of corrupt practices and had been taken in.

The EFCC had on April 23, moved to declare the former Governor wanted when he failed to honour its invitations for questioning. The allegations against the governor have not been made public by the agency.

Mr Sheriff governed Borno State on the platform of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party. Before he became Governor, he was a Senator between 1999 and 2003 on the ticket of the same party. He is now a member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
