Chief Lucky Igbinedion: Oshiomhole will not let sleeping dogs lie

Face your problems and not Igbinedion-PDP tells Oshiomhole

Edo State Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chris Nehikhare Wednesday said moves by the state government to recover the sum of $31 million allegedly taken fraudulently from the state’s coffers during the government of former Governor Lucky Igbinedion, smacks of political desperation and persecution.

He said it was shameful and disgraceful that “it took the Oshiomhole’s administration seven years to wake up from its slumber to begin what is clearly a case of political witch-hunting.”

Nehikhare who made the remark in Benin while briefing journalists, said instead of tackling the challenges facing Edo State in form of dilapidated roads, corruption, flood and other problems, Oshiomhole was plotting how to perpetuate himself in office by installing his stooge as successor.

He drew attention of Edo people to what he described as the parlous state of roads in the state capital, listing some of the roads such as Evbotubu Market road, UgbiyokoRoad, Upper Sakponba Road, St Saviour Road, Boundary Road, Ihama Road, Nekpenekpen Road, Upper Adesuwa Road, Ibiwe Street and Uwa Street.

According to the PDP scribe, despite the billions of naira expended on the storm water project, flooding was on the increase in the state. He added that Governor Oshiomhole will be leaving behind next year a huge number of abandoned projects and unfulfilled electoral promises.

He further alleged that in order to placate the people, the Oshiomhole administration was planning to use the now familiar tactics of deploying caterpillars and mobilizing some contractors to site as soon as election was approaching.

“It is obvious that the Oshiomhole camp is piling up a strong financial war chest. In the last four months, he has received $75 million and N10 billion as loans and bailout funds to fight a last ditch battle to maintain and retain his stranglehold on Edo State.

“If within the period of seven years, Oshiomhole and his administration squandered over a trillion naira to put in place some over-priced and over-hyped and so-called legacy projects, Edo people will not welcome or tolerate another round of administrative incubus being arranged to foist an Oshiomhole-tutored surrogate on the people,” Nehikhare sai
