It was disguised as a meeting to chart a new course for the movie industry in Nigeria, but the discussions that ensued during the meeting pointed to one direction: 2015.
Yesterday afternoon at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, many top practitioners in the movie industry-Actors, Producers and Directors were hosted by a team from the Presidency headed by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Research, Mr. Oronto Douglas.
Sources revealed to us that Oronto Douglas arrived the hotel early that morning to put machinery in motion for the meeting held inside one of the hotel’s suites. The discussion centred on various interventions that President Goodluck Jonathan had extended to Nollywood and then the floor was thrown open for suggestions on what else attendees will have done to further help the industry.
Our source said the meeting began at about 2pm and did not end till about well after 4pm. The attendees were assured that the Presidency will listen and implement the suggestions of the practitioners, while soliciting their support for the government as it seems it is being hit by a barrage of odium from different quarters.
They were told that President Jonathan means well for Nigeria and as a result they use their muscle and influence to spread the good tidings of the Jonathan Presidency.
Those who attended the meeting included: Kanayo O. Kanayo, Fred Amata, Ramsey Nouah, Monalisa Chinda, Keppy Ekpeyong, Chioma Ude, Mike Nliam, Zik Zulu Okafor, Ifeanyi Dike, Sonny Mcdon W, Charles Novia and Fidelis Duker.
Others were Peace Anyiam-Osigwe , Ibinabo Fiberesima, Shan George, Chico Ejiro, Zeb Ejro and Chioma Ude. Each of the attendees was handed a white goodie bag after meeting which contained different  forms of literature!
