Diezani’s Dollar rain: EFCC arrests Acess Bank’s MD, Herbert Wigwe

In less than three weeks, the Economic & Financial Crimes Commission has arrested a third Bank Chief Executive during investigations into some huge dollars splashed around during the last election. The latest person to be raided is Herbert Wigwe, the Group Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank.

Wigwe certainly did not see it coming, after the arrest of Nnamdi Okonkwo of Fidelity Bank  and Yemi Adeola of Sterling Bank. His last public appearance was the 50th birthday of Agbo Abiola held in Banana Island where he had fun till the break of dawn.

Though the reason for his arrest is still under wraps, we have been told that it is connected to the $115m that was kept in banks on the order of former Petroleum Minister, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke. The funds were mobilized for President Jonathan’s second term.

It is said that disclosed  the Access Bank MD received $5 million from Diezani that was routed through Zenith Bank. He was arrested at the Banks’s Victoria Island, Head Office and has not been released.
