Customs appoints new Deputy Comptrollers-General, others

In a move meant at steadying the ship, The Comptroller-General of Customs, retired Col. Hameed Ali, has approved the appointment of six acting Deputy Comptrollers-General (DCGs) and eight Assistant Comptrollers-General (ACGs) in what the service described as ongoing
re-organisation exercise.

A Monday statement by the Customs Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wale Adeniyi, said the six serving Assistant Comptrollers-General would act as Deputy-Comptrollers-General.

The statement listed the officers as ACG Idris Suleiman (Finance Administration and Technical Service); ACG Iya Umar (Tariff and Trade) and ACG Dan Ugo (Enforcement, Investigation and Inspection).

Others are ACG Grace Adeyemo (Excise, FTZ& Industrial Incentive); ACG Austin Warikoru (Human Resource Development) and ACG Paul Ukaigwe (Strategic Research and Policy).

The statement said that eight Comptrollers were promoted to the rank of Assistant Comptrollers-General (ACG) in the exercise.

The new ACGs are Comptroller Umar Sanusi ( Headquarters); Comptroller Funsho Adegoke (ACG ICT); Comptroller Mohammed Abbas (ACG Board) and Comptroller Olatunji Aremu (Command & Staff College).

Others are Comptroller Charles Edike (Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘A’); Comptroller Abubakar Dangaladima (Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘B’); Comptroller Azarema Abdulkadir (Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘C’) and Comptroller Chidi Augustine (Zonal Coordinator Zone ‘D’).

Also, seven officers were redeployed in the new exercise, including ACG Adesina Odunmbaku (Finance and Technical Service); ACG Robert Alu (Tariff and Trade); ACG Ade Dosumu (Enforcement and Drugs) and ACG Monday Abueh (Excise & Industrial Incentive), the statement said.

Some of the redeployed officers are ACG Ahmed Mohammed (Human Resource Management); ACG Patience Iferi (Strategic Research and Policy) and Comptroller Aminu Abba (Technical Services).

The service last week retired 34 top officers in a major shake up since Hameed Ali assumed office about 4 weeks ago.
