Court Drama: Honeywell Boss, Dr Oba Otudeko in court over N5.5billion Ecobank Debt

Dr. Oba Otudeko was the played the lead role in a court drama that unfolded at the Federal High Court in Lagos where he appeared in person after a subpoena was issued.

Immediately Dr Otudeko who is the Chairman of Honeywell Group entered the witness book, Ecobank’s lawyer  Mr. A. O Divine fired him with a barrage of questions: where he lives works, and his qualifications.

But the man’s lawyer, Mr Bode Olanipekun objected stating that his client ‘s duty was just to be asked to to adopt his written statement.

Otudeko in court

Dr Otudeko was not in any smiling mood throught told the court that he was delighted be in court and insisted that it was not his intention to disrespected the court but he never got any subpoena. It will be recalled that a day before Ecobank’s lawyer had requested a bench warrant be issued to force Otudeko to make a personal appearance.

Anyway, the learned Judge, Justice Idris decided to rule on this knotty issue of questioning and he ruled in favour of Otudeko. He was therefore discharged as witness

That was not the end of the drama, outside the court, journalists had laid siege for the billionaire businessman to capture his images and also possibly interview him.

His aides were very aggressive, they formed a human shield and ferried him to his car- before they zoomed off.
