Chris Oyakhilome splashes N1billion on Benson Idahosa University

Rev (Dr.) Chris Oyakhilome, the Founder and President of Believers Loveworld Ministry, otherwise known as Christ Embassy, is a man who is usually known for doing the extra-ordinary-and on Friday, October 23, 2015, he showed this once again when he donated N1billion to Benson Idahosa University, Benin City, Edo State as part of his support to the institution which he described as one of the legacies of his mentor and role-model, the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa.

Oyakhilome made the donation at a special Convocation Ceremony held by the institution where he was conferred with an honourary Doctor of Divinity degree.

According to the televangelist, the financial support was to facilitate the Faculty of Engineering project in the Benin City campus of the institution.

Oyakhilomen who disclosed that his contribution to the university is borne out of his passion to contribute to the development of lives meaningfully and positively, noted that the Founder of BIU, the late Archbishop Idahosa, positively influenced his life and ministry as a youth.

He said the television ministry of the late Archbishop Idahosa, popularly known as Idahosa World Outreach (IWO Television), was the first of its kind in the country which he noted helped to liberate lost souls and imparted Christians in the world to accept Christ globally.

“Archbishop Benson Idahosa was one of the most remarkable and inspiring personalities of the 20th Century. It is a fact of life that those who did not have the privilege to get to meet him, are blessed to meet him through many of us. The impact of the Archbishop on me as an individual is unquantifiable.

“Many times, people would ask me why I talk about the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa more than anybody. It will surprise you to know that as a young man, I was working with the Archbishop in the mail room in the Church of God Mission in Benin City. I was blessed to have worked with the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa. While working with him, I had the blessing and benefit of seeing the Archbishop pass by my table every day to his office,” he said.

Chancellor of BIU and wife of the late founder, Archbishop Margaret Idahosa, described the Awardee as a spiritual son of the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa and Founder, Church of God Mission International (CGMI).

She noted that the decision to honour Rev. Dr. Iyakhilome with Doctor of Divinity was to recognise the person of Oyakhilome who has greatly contributed to building and saving lives at home and abroad through his ministry.
