Boardroom Titan, Gamaliel Onosode dies at 82

One of the few good men in Nigerian business circles, a corporate titan, Mr. Gamaliel Onosode is dead. He  reportedly breathed his last at the Gold Crest Hospital, Ikoyi, Lagos this morning

Family sources revealed that Mr. Onosode was flown into Lagos from London yesterday, September 28th, 2015-and had been nursing a protracted illness. We gathered that even when he turned 80, two years ago, he was not in tip top shape-and since then, many had feared for his life.

He leaves behind a squeaky clean image and will be fondly remembered for his trademark hair style with the front parting and a winning smile.

Born 22 May 1933, Mr. Onosode was a former presidential candidate of the All Nigeria People’s Party of Nigeria. He was educated at Government College, Ughelli and the University of Ibadan, he emerged in the 1970s, as one of Nigeria’s leading educated chief executives, when he was at the helm of NAL Merchant Bank of Nigeria. Over the years, he has risen to become a leading boardroom player in Nigeria’s corporate environment. He was also an Adviser to President Shehu Shagari
