Ambode’s commissioners: House to conclude confirmation today

Following the submission of the report of the Adhoc Screening Committee headed by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, the Lagos State House of Assembly will today discuss the report and formally write to Governor Akinwunmi Ambode.

www.thelightnews.com had reported yesterday that following a session by the Committee of the Whole where 35 of the 36 nominees for the Lagos Executive Council were formally presented to the House, it was assumed that they had been confirmed, but we have it on good authority that the confirmation of the Commissioners and Special Advisers would only be formalised after a letter had been sent to the Governor by the Speaker Rt. Hon. Mubashiru Obasa, which he is expected to do today.

It will be recalled that during the House session on Tuesday, October 13, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mubashiru Obasa had announced that all the nominees will now be openly screened to eliminate all doubts and put an end to speculations about the job of the adhoc committee.

However, only 35 out of the 36 cabinet nominees appeared before the House because Mrs Yetunde Onabule, who resides in the United Kingdom was absent.

The new Exco members are: Gbolahan Lawal, Dr. Jide Idris, Mr. Folarin Coker, Mr. Seye Oladejo, Engr. Ganiyu Johnson, Mr. Babatunde Hunpe, Mrs. Yetunde Onabolu, Mr. Fela Bank-Olemoh and Alhaja Uzamat Akinbile-Yusuf

Other are: Mr Steve Ayorinde, Mr. Akinyemi Ashade, Kehinde Joseph, Prof. Ademola Abass, Dr. Akintola Benson, Dr. Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef, Dr. Mohammed Akinkunmi, Dr. Babatunde Adejare, Dr. Femi Onanuga, Dr. Dayo Mobereola, Engr. Ade Akinsanya, Arch. Wasiu Anifowoshe, Mrs. Lola Akande, Agboola Dabiri, Ganiu Okanlomo Sanni, Anofi Elegushi, Rotimi Ogunleye, Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola, Femi Odubiyi, Alhaji Musiliu Folami, Adeniji Kazeem, Adeyemi Labinjo, Toyin Suarau, Babatunde Durosinmi-Etti, Deji Tinubu, Mrs. Mudirat Giwanson and Hon. Kehinde Bamigbetan.

It is expected that as soon as they are confirmed, portfolios will be allocated and Lagosians will begin to see more vigorous action as Governor Ambode continues to fulfil his campaign promises.
