Akwa-Ibom: Udom Emmanuel commends former PDP Guber aspirants

Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has commended the G- 22 members comprising aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2014 gubernatorial primaries for their decision to place the interest of the state above other considerations.

Governor Emmanuel made the commendation when he hosted the G – 22 members in a breakfast meeting at Government House, Uyo.

Governor Emmanuel who expressed delight at their loyalty to the party said “their refusal to cross carpet to other political parties was an indication of their unalloyed commitment and believe in the ideals of PDP .”

He commended the G-22 members for their resilience and particularly appreciated the media for fostering unity within the party and the state.

The spokesman for the group Barrister Ekpenyong Ntekim-a former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in the state, while declaring their solidarity to Governor Udom Emmanuel and his administration, stated that it was not possible for all the aspirants to emerge as governor and that good reasoning provides that they rally round Governor Udom Emmanuel to enable him succeed.

He added that the breakfast meeting afforded the G-22 members opportunity to deliberate on issues particularly the welfare of the state.

Barrister Ntekim attributed Mr Udom Emmanuel’s emergence as the governor to the grace of God saying that the Governor has provided quality leadership for Akwa Ibom people who elected him into the office and assured of their maximum cooperation and input that would aid in the development of the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Political And Legislative Affairs, Mr Anietie Etuk in an interaction with Government House Correspondents after the meeting said that the G- 22 members have demonstrated that politics can still be played without bitterness and saluted them for their display of statesmanship.

The Special Adviser said that PDP will continue to wax stronger and has it opened it arms to accommodate every individual with genuine interest for the party.
