Abubakar Audu’s first son docked for robbery!

Mohammed, the first son of  former Governor, Prince Abubaker Audu has been charged to court for alleged armed robbery and criminal conspiracy.

Mohammed was arrested and detained on Wednesday night after he honoured the invitation of the men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Lokoja.

Mohammed is accused of criminal conspiracy, causing grievous hurt, mischief, and attempt to commit culpable homicide.

According to the prosecutor, Mr Gabriel Otuwo, Mohammed was fingered in an attack on one Yahaya Audu after threatening to deal with him.

He said that Yahaya Audu reported to SARS office in Lokoja on September 2 at about 12noon that he was attacked by hoodlums on August 30 in his country home – Ogbonicha in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.

He complained to the Police that prior to his attack, Mohammed Audu had promised to deal with him, calling him a traitor for daring to collect an award on behalf of his late father and fingered him as the mastermind of the attack.

The prosecutor said that Police investigation led to Mohammed’s arrest and subsequent arraignment, adding that others who carried out the attack were still at large while investigation was ongoing.

Counsel to the accused, Oke-Chukwu Ayewu asked the court to grant his client bail, saying that there was nothing linking the alleged crime to the accused.

The Chief Magistrate, Alhassan Husaini, thereafter granted the accused bail in the sum of 100,000 Naira and a surety in like some.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after, the lead counsel to the accused, Mr Okechukwu Ajunwa, said that the case was politically motivated.
