5 people rescued as building collapses in Central Lagos

Five people have so far been rescued after a three storey-building collapsed in Lagos Island Area of Lagos State, Nigeria.

According to an eye witness report, several people are trapped inside the collapsed building which is located on Odun Ifa street by No. 100, Adeniji Adele street.

The General Manger, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Mr.  Michael Akindele and the Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaq Fadipe who were at the scene confirmed the incidence.

“People were reported trapped and search and rescue operations are ongoing,” said Fadipe

An eyewitness, Ajayi Timi revealed that he wasone of the first responders “we heard the sound of the collapsed building and I had to rush out as a licenced Red Cross office.We have been working to rescue as many people as possible” No deaths have been recorded as at the time of this report.
