“$43m, other funds found in Ikoyi flat belongs to Amaechi”- Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation and Aide to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode has made a wild allegation that the monies found in Osborne, Ikoyi. Lagos flat belongs to Transport Minister, Mr Rotimi Amaechi.

Taking to his twitter handle, @realffk, Fani-Kayode stated “The $43m is Rotimi Amaechi’s. He owns the flat it was found in too. The NIA story is fake news!. NIA does not keep cash in a Minister’s flat.”

Ever since the huge amount of money totalling $43.4 million, £27,800 and N23.2 million was uncovered at the 7th Floor of a four – bedroom apartment at Osborne Towers located at 16, Osborne road Ikoyi, Lagos, there have been three people linked with the funds: Mrs. Esther Nnamdi-Ogbue former MD of PPMC, former Governor and PDP Chairman, Adamu Muazu and now, Rotimi Amaechi.

The story making the round is that the block of flats was built by Muazu and was financed by GTbank, when he could not meet his terms of repayment, he was given the penthouse and two flats while the back sold the other flats. Flats 7a and 7b where the money was found were reportedly bought by Amaechi, a forme Governor.

Amaechi, the tale bearers say, gave 7a to Ebony life TV owner, Mo Abudu, who is his close friends and kept 7b. Now the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) according to another story. The NIA is claiming the funds and said  $5m is reportedly missing!
